Amazon Software Dev Engineer II, Infra Supply Chain Automation in Austin, Texas

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

This position is with a team responsible for 2 major initiatives within the AWS data center construction space. One of the initiatives our team works to develop and maintain is a tracking and calculation engine for managing major milestones of the construction process. The other is a suite of integrations and automations between our construction platform and other AWS services.

This is a full stack position. We have opportunities to work with many aspects of development. Everything from frontend websites, backend processes and APIs, databasing to infrastructure as code.

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for working with the team to complete feature improvements and updates to our systems. You will also be part of an on-call rotation which supports and maintains our systems.

You will also have the opportunity to take lead on new projects or feature enhancements. Showcasing your ability to invent and simplify while delivering for our customers.

You will also be expected to be a mentor to the other engineers on the team. One of the metrics for success on the team is how well you are able to aid in developing the best in the folks we work with.

A day in the life

Our team utilizes the scrum framework for development and we kick off each day with a quick standup meeting to ensure there are no major blockers for the team. You will then work on developing solutions for our planned feature improvements. Every 2 weeks you will have the opportunity to showcase your work to our customers as part of a bi-weekly sprint review. You will also participate in our refinement meetings where we will discuss the upcoming work and estimate the effort and size.
