Johns Hopkins University Assistant Director of Development, Corporate Relations in Baltimore, Maryland

Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins’ focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine; strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.

Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.

The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) is the dedicated development and alumni relations team supporting the entities that comprise Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), including clinical departments, hospitals, satellite clinics, and the School of Medicine. We contribute to Johns Hopkins Medicine’s mission of patient care, research, and education through securing philanthropy, building and maintaining donor and alumni relationships, and supporting institutional priorities. FJHM partners closely with institutional leaders, faculty, and clinicians to engage alumni, patients, donors, and prospects in JHM’s work to advance medicine and improve the human condition.

The Assistant Director of Development, Corporate Relations is an integral member of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center development team. This position, which reports directly to the Director of Corporate Engagement and Events, is responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate partners and programs, engaging the support of new corporate partners and programs, working to rebuild relationships with lapsed corporate partners and programs, and managing the Friends of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center social media accounts. The Assistant Director manages Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) specific corporate partners and programs (local and national relationships) through campaigns, visits, events, and conferences. They will continue to grow the Miracle Network Dance Marathon program by creating new relationships with Baltimore market colleges and high schools. They will also manage the Kids Helping Hopkins program, and assist the Director with corporate donors and events throughout the year. The Assistant Director will build relationships with CMNH national staff as well as collaborate with other CMNH Hospitals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prospect Management

  • Manage a portfolio of a minimum of 50 annual and corporate donor partnerships while providing assistance, when needed, to the Director’s accounts. This includes a minimum of 100 donor visits annually.

  • Collaborate with the Director to implement strategy for building new donor pipeline by routinely identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new corporate partnerships. This includes conducting research, performing qualification visits, providing sponsorship and fundraising opportunities, writing proposals, and conducting appropriate follow-up.

  • Articulate the need for support of the Children’s Center for unrestricted and priority needs to corporate and foundation prospects and donors.

  • Keep up-to-date with visit and proposal entry in the donor database and utilize available reports to analyze corporate relations data. Also supports corporate team with data entry.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

  • Determine areas of growth, establishes relationships with non-participating/new locations, manages year-round CMNH campaigns, sets fundraising goals, engages individual partner locations, provides year-round campaign support, and develops innovative stewardship strategy.

  • Identify and establish opportunities for youth marketing fundraising. This includes building new collegiate and high school Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs. Builds strong relationships with and strategizes with Northeast Area Dance Marathon Managers.

  • Collaborate with other CMNH hospitals to benchmark and learn best practices to further JHCC fundraising.

Events

  • Support the Director and Associate Director with event logistics for signature events.

  • Represent the JHCC corporate relations team at non-corporate events as well as events managed by the corporate team.

  • Collaborate with Director to identify signature event sponsorship opportunities for current and new corporate partners.

General Corporate Relations

  • Manage the Kids Helping Hopkins program. Works with founder and key stakeholders to revitalize and refine their roles and reinvent the program.

  • Provide assistance with the Corporate Advisory Board, which is staffed by the Director.

  • Work with donor relations colleagues and FJHM donor relations team to develop stewardship plans, as well as select and distribute donor recognition items for individual and corporate donors.

  • Take part in Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins Development and Alumni Relations senior staff meetings and activities.

  • Work closely with colleagues and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center communications team to develop and manage social media content and accounts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Two years fundraising or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to travel within and out-of-state

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal vehicle for transportation

  • Some evening and weekend work

  • Ability to multi-task, while working under pressure and meeting deadlines

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and timely follow through on projects

  • Ability to work with a variety of people

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with online fundraising software, email marketing software, and web-based research

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

  • Other duties as assigned
