Position Summary

Technical Writer

We are looking for a bright, passionate individual who wants to work on a fun team in a dynamic environment where you can impact the success of technology. If you enjoy challenges in a fast-paced company, we would love to hear from you.

This position is a technical writer responsible for developing documentation and training targeted at a wide range of users, including developers and end-users. This person will work closely with other technical writers and application developers to organize, write, and edit documentation for a variety of sophisticated, Web-based applications. In addition, they might be asked to produce training videos for the same applications. This person will be responsible for writing various types of information, such as concepts, procedures, and examples using single-source authoring tools.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:

• Technical or scientific

• English

• Professional or technical writing

• Journalism

• Fluent in written and verbal English and able to show examples of past work

• Experience creating materials for a developer audience, such as documentation, training courses, or videos

• A working understanding of programming and software architectures and/or databases.

• Experience documenting APIs

• Proven ability to learn quickly and acquire subject matter expertise on sophisticated business applications, so you can write about it accurately and clearly.

• Experience working as an integral member of a multi-disciplined team with remote co-workers.

• Ability to deal with changing priorities and multiple assignments.

• Excellent communication skills

• Curiosity

• Experience with multi-channel publishing using authoring tools, such as MadCap Flare or Adobe RoboHelp.

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• General experience with Web-based technologies and tools.

• Familiar with the Agile development methodology.

• Experience creating videos with tools, such as Camtasia or Storyline

• Solution design which will include interactions with Product Management, Product Advisory Committee and customers to identify high value patterns.

• Designing, developing, testing, releasing, and maintaining software solution configurations for use by Huron Professional Services as the basis of solution deployments.

• Delivering application product (design, code/configuration, documentation, testing, and maintenance) that meets or exceeds the needs of Huron Professional Services and customers in terms of quality, generality/flexibility, functionality, and timeliness.

• Managing development projects, tracking and communicating status, and working with the business to balance resource, time, and scope pressures.

• Partner with Product Management to meet business needs and drive project success.

• Participate in multiple aspects of product development including system and business process design, configuration, test, and production support.

• Proactively identify problems and develop problem-solving approaches and resolve conflicts and issues

• Manage scope and activities to achieve objectives.

• Develop appropriate project plans and estimates for potential and existing customers.

• Coach and mentor junior team members, offering feedback and actively looking for opportunities to develop others.

• Continue to develop skills through experience and by taking advantage of opportunities to attend relevant training sessions, and conferences.

• Develop industry and practice knowledge and share expertise with other team members.

• Facilitates project meetings

• Provides significant design and implementation advice

Qualifications

• Requires 2 years of experience working within any of the following areas: Disaster Recovery, Risk Management, Technical Writing, Corporate Operations, Project Management

• Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organization

• Ability to take complex technical concepts and present the concepts to people with little to no technical background

• Demonstrate expert level knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Visio

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

• High level understanding of Information technology security concepts a plus
