Robert Half has partnered with a client in search of a Patient Access Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The chosen individual will play a crucial role within our healthcare industry setting, focusing on ensuring accurate patient registration and efficient insurance verification. This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately register inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients in the EMR system

• Validate patient information and ensure it is up-to-date and reliable

• Verify insurance coverage of patients and calculate collection of patient co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays

• Obtain necessary authorization for services from insurance companies

• Balance cash and conduct financial transactions as necessary

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies to ensure a best-in-class patient experience

• Monitor and comply with federal and state regulations related to acute-care patient registration

• Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) skill to accurately and efficiently process patient data

Requirements

• Proven experience in a patient access specialist role or similar in a healthcare setting

• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and ability to use them effectively

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask

• Ability to work under pressure and handle patient concerns professionally

• Proficiency in using computers and healthcare software applications

• Understanding of medical terminologies and procedures

• Strong problem-solving skills to handle patient queries and concerns efficiently

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus
