Description

We currently have a short-term contract Patient Access Specialist position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a healthcare facility! This Patient Access opportunity is a perfect role for someone who enjoys helping others and is passionate about growing their career in the healthcare industry. You will perform a variety of administrative healthcare duties. Do you love interacting with patients and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment? Then we have a position for you!

Responsibilities:

• Accurately register inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients in the EMR

• Validate patient information for accuracy and completeness

• Verify insurance coverage for each patient and calculate co-insurance/deductibles/co-pays as required

• Collect patient co-insurance/deductibles/co-pays and balance cash

• Obtain authorization for services as needed

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies

• Monitor and take action on delinquent payments

• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to patient registration

• Strive to provide a best-in-class patient experience

• Maintain knowledge of acute-care patient registration procedures and practices

Requirements

• Proficiency in the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is essential

• Must demonstrate strong customer service skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

• Must possess the ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally

• Should have strong multitasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred

• Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient access, scheduling or billing roles is an advantage

• Should be able to work effectively as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is necessary

• Ability to adapt to new software and technology systems quickly is preferred

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree or relevant certification is a plus
