Kendrick Plastics Controls Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan

 

Apply electrical and control theory to test, modify, and diagnose the electronic and electrical components of all production and plant equipment to support the operation.

 

  1. Diagnose and resolve causes of electrical and mechanical malfunctions on all equipment.  
  2. Assist the maintenance department in installing new electronic/electrical control equipment and making it operational.  
  3. Develop engineering specifications for electrical control systems and equipment modifications.  
  4. Provide technical support to the maintenance department when required; Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical analysis on the production equipment.  
  5. Recommend and initiate modifications or replacement of equipment that fails to meet operating standards.  
  6. Provide training for the maintenance department on the operation and diagnostics of the machine controls and motor controllers.  
  7. Research and implement cost-effective upgrades to the equipment and facilities.  
  8. Research and implement the most cost-effective replacement of electrical control parts.  
  9. Keep updated electrical drawings and schematics on all production and plant equipment.  
  10. Maintain master backups for all machine programs.  
  11. Recommend electrical spare parts inventory for all new and existing production equipment to ensure maximum machine utilization.  
  12. Develop programming and provide support for Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial Robots, HMIs, bar code scanners, and vision sensors, to maximize both quality and production.  
  13. Develop new and support old programming using Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Ignition, Python, OPC-UA, and RS Logix 500.  
  14. Deploy and maintain common fieldbus networks such as Ethernet/IP, IO-Link, and DeviceNET.  
  15. Integrate new machines with the existing shop floor systems to ensure that common standard systems are in place, and the companies part traceability standards are met.  
  16. Actively intervene to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.  

Qualifications

5 Years  Controls engineer experience
