Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Inc. Nursing Administration Clinical Co-Op-PRN in Hopkinsville, Kentucky

To assist/observe healthcare personnel in the delivery of quality patient care. Under the direct supervision of the House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or RN/LPN and/or his/her designee, or a Provider while providing a safe environment.

Functional Demands

Inclement Weather: Non Essential

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

Lifting, pushing, pulling up, transferring, repositioning patients.

Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.

Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.

Ability to successfully complete physical and agility test, all required health, and other screening tests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to perform and complete accurate vital signs along with another staff member

Assists Certified Nursing Assistants in Activities of Daily Living:

assists with meals and feeds patients; ambulates, turns, and positions patients; provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.

Provides a safe environment

Provides for comfort needs of patients.

Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.

Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.

Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.

Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.

Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and clean appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.

Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.

Maintains good working relations among all unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.

Ability to take directions from licensed and administrative professionals.

Responsible and accountable for all actions.

Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Required Skills

BLS required

Excellent customer service skills.

Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information

Required Experience

Education: Currently enrolled in High School and acceptance by school officials into the COOP Program

Appearance must be neat, clean and professional. Must comply with Clinical Standards of JSMC Dress code. Gray Scrub pants and a White Scrub Top

Required License and or Certification: BLS Certification—American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) Required. Must be current
