Job Description Summary

 

Prof. Lei Pan's research team is looking for a motivated applicant with an analytical chemistry background. He/she will be operating various analytical equipment in a university analytical laboratory. He/she will also be working with research staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students to co-develop job safety assessment (JSAs), waste management plans (WMPs), and Spill Response Plans (SRPs), and receiving and shipping materials and chemicals. Prof. Pan's research is funded by the Department of Energy, Department of Human Service and Health, National Science Foundation, other government agencies, and industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

 

  • Operating various analytical equipment including Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), microwave digestion, carbon and sulfur analyzer, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray fluorescence analyzer, and continuous stirred reactors. 

  • Working with research staff and graduate students to co-develop job safety assessment (JSAs), waste management plans (WMPs), and Spill Response Plans (SRPs). 

  • Receiving and shipping materials and chemicals.

     

     

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

BS in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.

 

 

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

1-year laboratory experience in either university or industry settings.

 

 

Desirable Education and/or Experience

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

Knowledge and skills in analytical chemistry and laboratory equipment operations.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. **
