Technical Supervisor/Lead Technician

We are a busy 6 - 7 doctor, AAHA Accredited hospital that values each team member’s individual skill and personality.

The Technician Team Leader trains, supervises and assists technicians to plan, coordinate and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health and client education and to promote VCA Spring Branch Animal Hospital. This position also encompasses all the duties of a veterinary technician. The Technician Supervisor or Team Leader is under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager with support and input from the Medical Director.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma

Certified or Registered Technician status or equivalent practice experience of at least 5 years experience.

Prior supervisory experience.

The successful candidate will have skills and abilities as follows:

  • Strong medical skills.

  • Customer Service.

  • Human Resources knowledge.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Experience with scheduling staff

  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts.

  • Ability to direct workflow on the floor.

  • Coach and mentor staff.

  • Assist with interviews.

  • Ensure the policies, procedures and guidelines are followed.

Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities.

Veterinary Technician skills:

  • Surgical preparation and assisting.

  • Anesthesia monitoring.

  • Dentistry

  • Radiology

  • Laboratory

  • Venipuncture

  • Catheter placement.

  • Pharmacy Knowledge

  • Patient Recovery
