Amazon Software Development Engineer, Author Data Quality in Madrid, Spain

Customers join the Author Follow program by clicking on “Follow” button on various Amazon ingress points such as Author Detail page, Thank You Page, Start/End actions and Search. In return, there are multiple benefits for following the author including customers receiving new release updates and authors/books recommendations based on which authors they follow. Authors come to Amazon Author Central to create their author profile and claim their books. We also owns the Amazon Author detail page. Author Page displays author biography, recommends similar authors, books written by the author and author updates. But this is only Day 1, we could do so much more to help our authors and followers!

The Amazon Author team is seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer to be part of a single thread engineering team focusing on Author end to end. You will have the opportunity to build systems and programs that will impact millions of authors and author followers. The SDE will work with other engineers, SDMs, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers and UX designers to enable authors building an active author to follower community on Amazon that provides tons of unique benefits to followers that will build a demand fly-wheel for Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer II, you will

  • Solve difficult engineering problems with elegant and practical code.

  • Design and build web applications, backend services.

  • Closely work with Product Managers in scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.

  • Be a champion for the customer and ensure their needs always come first.

  • Mentor entry-level engineers and provide technical guidance to your peers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
