Job Description:

We are in search of a dynamic and motivated Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer your responsibilities encompass the entire software development life cycle, from design and coding to maintenance and deployment. This role is uniquely positioned to provide you with a global perspective, allowing you to collaborate closely with customers around the world and travel to various sites to ensure that our software aligns perfectly with their evolving requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers: Work closely with customers from the packaging industry to gain a deep understanding of business requirements and translate them into software functionality.

  • Software Design and Development: Design, code, and maintain software, ensuring it meets high-quality standards and is aligned with project objectives.

  • Beta Testing: Participate in in-house and on-site testing of new major releases of software to identify and address issues, ensuring a seamless user experience.

  • Documentation: Prepare release notes and change logs for each new software version. Document technical specifications for complex software functionality.

  • Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation for both existing and new software functionality, including internal and external documents, user manuals, and installation manuals.

  • Training: Provide internal training to various teams within the organisation on new features introduced in each software release. Provide external training to customers of new interfaces that you have helped develop.

  • Technological Research: Stay updated on emerging technologies to enhance software development and quality assurance/testing methodologies.

  • Agile Scrum Process: Be an active participant in the agile Scrum process to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.

  • Mentoring and Guidance: Offer guidance and mentorship to the Research and Development team and Customer Success team, sharing your expertise and knowledge of applications and products.

  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and organisational goals.

  • Onsite and Remote Setup and Testing: Perform onsite/remote setup and testing of systems, with occasional night work.

  • Travel and Site Visits: This role involves traveling to sites, often on weekends, approximately 25% of the time, with a maximum of up to 50% travel during busy periods. These trips can vary between one day site visits up to two weeks installations. Extra pay and expenses are provided.

Requirements:

  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in C++, SQL and C# being advantageous.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with customers.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.

  • Proactive and self-motivated approach to problem-solving and learning.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (preferred).

  • A clean driving license.

  • A valid passport.
