Senior Raw Material & Packaging Planner

Position Description

Job Summary

The Sr Raw Material and Packaging Planner is responsible to plan the critical raw materials and packaging needs for all Lines of Business within Siding Products Group (SPG)(9 plants). The raw materials primarily include Resins (especially PVC), ASA, Calcium Carbonate, Tin Stabilizer, TiO2, Calcium Stearate, Waxes and other blend ingredients. Packaging primarily includes corrugated boxes used for Vinyl Siding, and wooden pallets. Total scope is approx. $250MM in annual purchases divided among several hundred SKUs (>50 raw material SKUs and >150 packaging SKUs).

Thanks to a seasoned planning background, this employee generates, maintains and shares with purchasing forecasts for SPG’s main raw materials and packaging materials based on expected production requirements. The accuracy and timely generation of these planned purchases is critical to the operations of the business. The Planner manages daily the inventory levels of said materials, reviews existing purchase orders, takes into account known supply issues reported by Purchasing and changes in SPG plants’ requirements in order to provide the business with the right quantities of materials in the right place at the right time.

The Planner ensures full use of the digital solutions available to the group. SAP MRP and Logility will need to be updated and used to generate correct materials forecasts. This employee is also expected to continuously strive for improvement of existing practices and processes and further improve accuracy of our forecasts and reporting as it relates to raw materials and packaging.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related relevant work experience.

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of work experience working in Production Planning, Production Scheduling, Inventory Management, Procurement or related field

  • Know and understand the quality and safety policies.

  • Complete all quality and safety training required for the specific position.

  • Follow all quality and safety rules and procedures and remind others.

  • Commit to addressing and reporting any unsafe condition or quality issue immediately.

  • Be empowered and speak up when unsafe behaviors are observed or quality issues arise and to not place blame while investigating these issues.

  • Adhere to the principles of data integrity.

Additional Description

  • Microsoft Office Excel/Outlook/Word/PPT (Required)

  • Familiarity working in ERP system (SAP strongly preferred)

  • Power BI or other BI reporting tool (Strongly Preferred)

  • Logility/Kinaxis/Blue Yonder or other Digital Supply Chain solution (Preferred)

  • Strong verbal and written communicator. Able to present to Director and VP level on daily/weekly basis

  • Leads by influence to achieve results across functions (Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain)
