As a Senior Safety & Security Advisor at NHJC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our students' future lives off-center. Your coordination of providing a safe, secure, and structured living environment for our students will encourage and help them develop self-esteem, structure, and responsibility for their actions and deeds. This will lead to our students being self-assured and confident, being able to live in their local community, and being a positive, productive addition when they leave the program.

Job Corps, the country's largest nationwide residential career training program, has been a beacon of success for over 50 years. Since its inception in 1964, the program has been instrumental in helping eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, train for meaningful careers, and secure employment. With a track record of training and educating over two million individuals, Job Corps stands as a testament to its commitment to youth empowerment and success.

At Job Corps, students can access rooms and boards while learning skills in specific training areas for up to three years. In addition to helping students complete their education, obtain career technical skills, and gain employment, Job Corps also provides transitional support services, such as help finding employment, housing, child care, and transportation. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, pursue higher education, or join the military.

Qualifications

o Assists Safety & Security Department maintain a safe and secure Center environment.o Ensures Center compliance with PRH and OSHA safety and health requirements.o Complies with DOL/Company reporting requirements.o Participates in student/staff safety awards program.o Compiles, analyzes and summarizes safety/security data and takes appropriate actions to resolve issues and concerns.o Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised.o Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.o Conducts and documents Center-wide safety and accident prevention training.o Conducts and documents incident and accident investigations per established timelines and requirements.o Ensures Center compliance with all PRH and other DOL, Job Corps and Company safety directives and requirements.o Conducts routine safety inspections and assessments of all Center equipment and facilities to identify potential safety and security hazards.o Responsible for Center security, visitor control and student accountability.o Ensures compliance with the Center’s Environmental Health Program.o Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.o Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards.o Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.o Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities. Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties.o Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.o Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior. Operational Support: Provides timely operational support for Center operations to ensure quality programs and services. Pursues improvement in Center operations to fulfill program objectives.o Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.o Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action and that problems are in fact corrected.o Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.o Other duties as assigned.
