The Position

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

This announcement will be used to fill an Administrative Assistant 3 with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), within the Research and Project Management (RPM) section in Carson City.

This announcement will be used to fill an Administrative Assistant III with the DMV in the Research and Project Management Division in Carson City. This position will be responsible for acting as the division's first point of contact to all; performing a broad variety of clerical, secretarial, and administrative support duties under strict deadlines and quick turn-times. These duties may include providing a variety of clerical and administrative support duties such as moderate data entry, intermediate Divisional records management and filing, activity coordination, serve as HR Liaison, composing, transcribing, meeting minutes, assisting with travel requests and reimbursements, editing correspondence, managing office supplies and inventory, creating and updating forms, coordinating regulatory hearings and workshops, revising program procedures as indicated by program staff, serving as a meeting coordinator, assisting with various data tracking needs. Incumbents foster an ownership mentality, take initiative, possess a creative and forward-thinking mindset, work well independently, and possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work in a high-profile, professional environment. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
