Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineer Software / Principal Engineer Software to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA .

As an Engineer Software, the selected candidate will develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized embedded applications using software engineering best practices and standards. The candidate will participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit level testing, integration, formal system level testing, release, installation, and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications :

This requisition may be filled at either an Engineer Software or a Principal Engineer Software level.

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer Software are:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university AND 1 year of experience in software engineering or related filed OR Master's degree from an accredited university AND 0 years of experience in software engineering or related field.

  • Software engineering experience using a Linux OS including BIOS, bootstrap, firmware, and drivers for a Linux hardware appliance.

  • Linux GUI UX/UI experience creating embedded/ appliance GUI web interfaces for edge devices such as Hololens, tablets, or cell phones.

  • Experience migrating and creating virtual and cloud-based versions of hardware-based appliances and applications with Linux and VMware virtualization.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer Software are:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university AND 4 years of experience in software engineering or related field OR Master's degree from an accredited university AND 3+ years of experience in software engineering or related field OR a PhD AND 0 years of Software Engineering experience

  • Software engineering experience using a Linux OS including BIOS, bootstrap, firmware, and drivers for a Linux hardware appliance.

  • Linux GUI UX/UI experience creating embedded/ appliance GUI web interfaces for edge devices such as Hololens, tablets, or cell phones.

  • Experience migrating and creating virtual and cloud-based versions of hardware-based appliances and applications with Linux and VMware virtualization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience with software and system deployment to a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience developing software for secure communication systems.

  • Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware.

  • Experience working within an Agile environment.

  • Familiarity with requirements tools such as Cameo.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800

Salary Range 2: $107,300 - $160,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
