We are currently seeking a Director , Continuous Improvement who would be an expert in Lean Principles/ Six Sigma and project management and who would integrate Lean component into EFI way of delivering products and services. This position oversees and coordinates the LEAN/Sigma team activities and advises management on the essentials for creating a LEAN/Sigma environment. The position is responsible for maintaining effective practices in LEAN/Sigma through effective direction of facilitators, advice to departments on LEAN/Sigma projects, appropriate use of LEAN/Sigma tools, and tracking with ROI of LEAN/Sigma work at EFI. Functions will include, but are not limited to training, coaching and developing a high-performing team to partner with the Senior Leaders in Business Units to drive more efficient and effective operation. A heavy emphasis is placed on education. Part of building this into the culture of the organization will be to educate 3,500+ team members and leaders at an appropriate level. Some education may be through course work, while other may be through leading and participating in improvement work.

Role encompasses project management, consultation, facilitation, training, and execution for a range of critical, multi-dimensional strategic initiatives that will require planning and analysis for a broad array of complex financial, operational and technical issues to improve cost position, productivity, efficiency, customer service, and overall performance.

Job Description:

  • Partner with key organizational and site operational leaders to identify and achieve priorities, goals and objectives.

  • Planning, coordination, and execution of LEAN/Sigma strategy at organization level.

  • Develop metrics to successfully track improvement

  • Ensure all elements of cost, benefit, and risk are identified and considered during the project planning.

  • Demonstrate, not only the benefits of the performance and process improvement initiatives, but also, the costs are far outweighed by the benefits, ensuring reasonable return on investment

  • Sustain already implemented Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

  • Manage large, organization-wide improvement teams through the full process improvement cycle. Coach, lead, model, and train Lean practitioners in Lean continuous improvement thinking and projects.

  • Organize and develop project team resources in order to effectively implement project commitments.

  • Conduct Lean / Six Sigma activities and support and mentor Lean / Six Sigma Coordinators and Facilitators while working collaboratively with management, supervisors and individual coordinators.

  • Create a learning environment that encourages employees to feel personally conscious of quality improvement and internal and external customer focus. Work as part of a larger group to update and align educational methods and curriculum.

  • Analyze and resolve problems through the use of Lean, Statistical Process Control and Theory of Constraints. Foster the use of scientific problem-solving using facts and data, problem solving, value stream mapping, standardized work, visual management, and leader standard work.

  • Train appropriate personnel, track progress, communicate progress, audit and drive sustainment.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have at least 10 years of work experience leading lean transformations and/or leading six sigma projects across entire organization.

  • Must have instituted training and certification programs on Lean methodologies/ Six sigma across organization and run it successfully to produce Lean practitioners in the organization.

  • Change Management experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in effectively guiding and influencing people through leading Lean initiatives

  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating performance improvement activities.

  • Experience with process improvement methods including but not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to facilitate group processes and training.

Licenses or Certifications required:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from an accredited organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Quality, Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience, Required
