Job Title: Lab Service Supervisor

Reports To: Top Management

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

The Lab Service supervisor has the primary responsibility of the supervision, training, leadership of, and assistance to technicians in-house at A & P Calibrations, Inc. He/She will perform routine and highly complex work related to the troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of biotechnical, pharmaceutical, medical device, dimensional, PLC, electronic/electro-mechanical and mechanical test, and measurement equipment.

Experience:

(10+) year’s instrument maintenance/calibration experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or related industries. One (1) to three (3) years experience as a manager, supervisor, or lead technician.

Education:

Bachelors in Electronics/Technology/Engineering preferred.

Essential Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to the following functions):

· Be responsible for the oversight and training of lower-level technicians in accordance with approved procedures.

· Be able to work primarily without supervision, multi-task, set priorities and lead cross-functional teams as needed.

· Be responsible for technician performance reviews and evaluation.

· Provide input to Management regarding technician performance and customer relations.

· Be the primary customer contact for laboratory equipment and calibrations inquiries.

· Be the primary technical source for technicians, management, customers and purchasing department.

· Possess strong oral and written communications skills (English).

· Computer literate including experience with calibration databases.

· Possess and exhibit strong leadership, analytical, process and utilities calibration skills.

· Possess a sound understanding of regulatory, cGMP and ISO requirements.

· Responsible for Safety and PPE applications and requirements for field operations

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

· Work flexible schedules, overnight/multiple day travel if needed.

· May order parts/manuals/supplies.

· May train lesser experienced technicians.

· May assist with internal, customer/regulatory audits.

· May schedule work.

· May be designees for Operations Management for technical decisions, document access and approvals, and will provide input for evaluations.

· May plan calibration activities in conjunction with office staff.

· Reports Opinions and Interpretations.

· May modify specifications and methods, and participate in validations in conjunction with QA.

· Troubleshoot to the component level, understand schematics, diagrams, BOM and manuals, and have a sound understanding of metrology terms, techniques, and applications.

· Be responsible for the development and/or approval of Standard Operating Procedures, Forms Work Instructions, and Laboratory Operations.

· Multiple technical direct reports

Language Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and manuals. Ability to write routing reports, correspondence and procedures, complete forms. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of A&P Calibrations, Inc.

Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, ratios, metrics, decimal place and specification/tolerance interpretation, and parameter conversions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in

written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to make accept/reject/adjust decisions based upon data and equipment performance.

Specialized Training:

· Military electronics and/or calibration preferred

· Vocational preferred

· PMEL preferred

Certificates and Licenses:

ASQ Certified Calibration Technician preferred
