The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will report to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, with a dotted line into the Manufacturing Shift Team Leader, and you will be the first port of call for resolution of all process and equipment related issues encountered during the production shift in the fibre fabrication facility. The fab produces radically novel optical fibres, and the process areas include glass preform manufacture, optical fibre drawing and associated support processes. Your primary goal will be to ensure the fab produces fibre at the agreed yield/quality/throughput rates by ensuring that processes/equipment run at the agreed yield/throughput rates.

The role will involve close interaction with the Fibre Manufacturing and Process/Equipment Engineering teams, to ensure that process/equipment issues are readily addressed, either directly, or by the liaison with Process/Equipment Engineering. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility five days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Having direct responsibility for the process/equipment uptime, quality and efficiency on your allocated shift.

  • Ensuring that all operational process/equipment issues are promptly resolved, either directly, or by consultation with process/equipment engineering and external suppliers.

  • Maintaining and monitoring process control tools, and acting on outputs from process control trends and correlations to improve overall process yield.

  • Operating and monitoring state-of-the-art optical fibre manufacturing equipment where required within a quality management and safety conscious environment, to assist in optimisation activities.

  • Supporting production to ensure operating procedures are efficient and fit for purpose.

  • Collaborating with Engineering on individual projects to improve yield/quality/reliability of current manufacturing methods.

  • Collaborating with Engineering colleagues and equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
