Description:

Customer is looking for a Controls Engineer to support their design and design & build of small machines. They build small machines for KUKA, Nexteer, GM Powertrain, Traverse City, Century, SMI, and others. Most of this is test equipment, some assemblies, improvements on the line type of machines. Machines they build are usually between $150K - $300K. One of their controls engineers (Ed) is retiring at the end of the year so they want someone that can train for 6 months and take over for Ed.

Job Duties:

70% of the time designing in AutoCAD Lite; will be designing controls panels and machine circuits and HMI design

30% of the time will be assisting with the build as well as doing programming PLC in Allen Bradley and HMI programming

Will interface with the customer; could be initial customer interaction in design review, runoff, and maybe install to assist with the install of these machines onsite at customer (1 week at a time MAX and install support is not always required)

Travel: 10% (3-5 times a year) and mainly local travel as most of their customers are in the Tri-City (Flint, Saginaw, Bay City) area. However they did just get a project with Nexteer Mexico so travel could be required there.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST Haves:

• 2 years of experience designing panel layouts or machine circuits in AutoCAD

• HMI experience (design mainly)

• 2 years experience building panels or have transferrable hands on skills

• Previous experience interfacing with a customer

Nice to Haves:

• PLC Programming & HMI Programming - HIHGLY preferred

• Quoting experience as they will be asked to help quote jobs but this can be trained
