*Job Description: *

CleanJoule has the immediate opening to hire a full-time on-site Chemical Engineer in our research and development (R&D) pilot plant facility.  This role will plan and execute R&D activities for organic hydrocarbon processes. The employee will be required to perform routine and specialized chemical synthesis, separations, pressure reactions, and analyses in a pilot plant environment.  Duties also include preparation of test solutions, compounds, or reagents for the R&D pilot plant personnel to conduct tests.  In this role, the employee will compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions.  The employee will confer with scientists or engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests. 

To be successful in this position, the employee must have the aptitude to effectively manage day-to day pilot plant, laboratory duties, and task lists with a high level of ownership.  Additionally, an employee may be required to perform other job-related duties as requested.

The employee will work under immediate supervision and interact with all levels of management, scientists, engineers, research associates, and technicians.  The employee will be required to maintain laboratory notebooks, analyze data, develop charts, attend meetings, participate in project activities planning sessions, and write technical summary reports.

*Education, Experience, and Knowledge:      *

·         Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering with five (5) years of laboratory or industry work experience required or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering with three (3) years of laboratory or industry work experience required.

·         Experience with chemicals and chemical processes is required.

·         Prior experience handling flammable chemicals is preferred.

·         Prior experience with high pressure reactor systems is preferred.

·         Prior experience with air sensitive materials and air sensitive synthesis is preferred.

·         Prior experience using hand and power tools is required.

·         Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools and web-based applications is required.

·         Prior experience successfully participating in work teams where personal accountability, attention to detail, collaboration, and results were required is essential.

Physical Demands:

Frequent lifting and moving of items up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required.  Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and practices.  This position requires the use of personal protective equipment that may include eye or face protection, gloves, masks, respirators, safety shoes, earplugs, coveralls and/or uniforms that are provided by the company and its use is mandatory.
