HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for developing and increasing the presence of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's suite of brands in social media, and assessing the effectiveness and outcomes. This position reports to the Social Media Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop and maintain executive leadership social media strategy and content writing and coordinate day-to-day content for all organizational social media channels, including developing stories, gathering content, writing stories, creating photo and video content and monitoring activity and reach.

• Assist in creating an overall strategy for San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s use of social media.

• Assist in developing new ways to communicate the organization’s messages through social media.

• Utilize analytical software and tools to track, measure, and manage the success of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s social media efforts.

• Moderate comments and engage in conversations with the audience where appropriate and collaborate with other departments when necessary.

• Tracks changes in what’s new and cutting edge, and determines if appropriate for SDZWA.

• Assists in triaging, vetting, and managing influencer visits.

• Assists in developing protocols for influencer visits and trade agreements.

• Facilitate crisis situations through strategic communications and cross-departmental collaborations.

  WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

JOB EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2-3 years experience working professionally in social media required.

• Intermediate photography and videography skills preferred.

  EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Humanities, Social Sciences, Public Relations, Communications, History, or a related field or equivalent specialized training required.

• CA Driver's License

  SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Strong working knowledge of Social media channels, trends, tools, strategies, and tactics.

• Professional writing ability.

• Able to communicate effectively with a high level of tact and diplomacy.

• Knowledge of Copy editing and photography and videography for social media.

• Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs.

• Able to operate Adobe Creative Suite.

• Strong working knowledge of content creation and marketing best practices.

• Hourly Range: $28.32 to $31.32
