Corporate Tax Accountant

Our Tax team is looking for aCorporate Tax Accountantto aid in the preparation and filing of federal and state income, excise, and franchise tax returns. If you have tax experience in public accounting and are up for the challenge, read further and apply today!
OVERVIEW
As a Corporate Tax Accountant, you'll utilize research skills, apply tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, participate in tax planning, and recognize and communication potential risks. You'll also gather financial and tax information necessary for tax filings, prepare tax workpapers, and utilize tax software applications to complete tax returns for review.
JOB DUTIES
Prepare federal and state income, excise, and franchise tax returns for the entire Sun family of entities including Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) filings, corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies.
Calculate and analyze state apportionment data for the preparation of state and local tax returns.
Assist in maintaining tax calendar to effectively track statutory and internal due dates for all tax filings; contribute to the maintenance of the filing system within the department.
Coordinate with and provide data to outside tax consultants and legal counsel related to tax compliance matters.
Evaluate book to tax differences related to fixed assets; utilize FAS software to compute tax asset depreciation reports.
Conduct quarterly and annual REIT audit testing calculations and projections.
Assist with the annual calculation and public reporting of tax classification of Company dividends.
Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and current tax developments.
Other duties and special projects as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum of 2 years tax experience in public accounting or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year partnership tax experience,preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA),preferred
In-depth knowledge of U.S. and state tax concepts in a multi-entity/multi-state structure
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple competing high priority tasks
Working knowledge of fixed asset and tax return software
Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel
