We want to get onboard a System Engineer for the Propulsion Unit Integration (Motor, gearbox and coupling)

As a system engineer for the integration of the propulsion unit (i.e. drive unit) in the bogie, you will play a critical role in ensuring that it meets the performance, reliability, and safety requirements demanded, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the trains.

In your new role, you will lead the integration of various components of the propulsion unit, including the motor, gearbox, and coupling, ensuring that they work seamlessly together as a unified system. This involves coordinating with different teams responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing these components, like traction system engineering, bogie integration, V&V or technical managers.

You shall define and manage the requirements for the drive unit, ensuring that they meet the overall performance and safety standards of the railway system withing the whole product lifecycle.

This may involve:

o Analyzing customer and transversal requirements

o Create system and supplier specifications,

o Analyze regulatory standards and industry best practices.

o Manage the quality gates with our internal and external propulsion unit partners.

You will participate in the design process of the propulsion unit integration:

o Defining the system architecture and layout design

o Participating in the component selection

o Performing calculations such as stress, power, thermal, and vibration analysis

o Managing the interfaces between the propulsion unit and other systems within the railway rolling stock, such as traction control, braking, and monitoring systems.

o Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility and interoperability between different subsystems.

o Aligning all system solutions that you develop with an experienced system specialist.

You will collaborate in Testing and Validation activities:

o Participating in type testing test plans, FAI's, routine testing, performance testing, and safety certification.

o Analyzing test results and identify issues or deviations from requirements.

o Coordinating with relevant teams to address identified issues.

You shall actively maintain documentation related to propulsion unit integration:

o Documentation includes specifications, design documents, test plans, and validation reports.

o Provide regular reports to project stakeholders on integration status.

o Documentation may also include FMECA, FTA, LCC analysis, operating instructions, technical descriptions, spare part lists, quality plans, and drawings.

Your Qualifications – Solid and appropriate.

• You have a master's degree/diploma in mechanical engineering or another engineering specialization.

• You have already gained experience in the realization of specifications for system solutions in your previous job, ideally in the field of rail vehicles.

• You have basic knowledge of Creo, PDMLink and SAP. Other equivalent tools experience will be evaluated. Experience with simulation tools is a plus.

• You have very good communication and negotiation skills and can collaborate with all the stakeholders. Excellent team player.

• You have very good written and spoken English. German skills or additional language skills are an advantage.
