Job Summary:

As an Accounting Intern at POWER Engineers, Inc. you will be assisting the accounting team in daily accounting activities and gaining hands-on experience in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis. This position is ideal for students who are currently pursuing a degree in accounting or finance and are eager to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting. This internship will cover the Summer of 2024 with the possibility to move into a full-time position based on performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end financial reports and support general ledger activities.

  • Help with bank statements reconciliation, as travel cards, and internal charges.

  • Prepare journal entries.

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Work closely with the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company during the GL close process.

  • Assist with administrative duties such as filing, copying, and managing financial documents.

  • Engage in ad-hoc projects and analysis.

In addition to working under the guidance of experienced team members, the selected intern will also participate in sessions designed to develop your skills and provide networking opportunities. Those sessions include:

  • Professional Development sessions focused on resume writing, interview tips, building a LinkedIn profile, and more.

  • Early Talent Speaker Series where leaders speak to interns about their role, vision for the company, and career path, offer career advice, and a Q&A session.

  • Fun Friday activities where interns company-wide join to network and have some fun while doing it.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's or masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • This position will be hybrid. Must be in the Boise office at least 2 days a week.

  • Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in work.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Junior or Senior standing in university with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Previous internship experience in accounting or related field is preferred but not required.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and Excel.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
