ModMed (https://www.modmed.com/company/) is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Collections for our growing business and customer base. The Director of Collections will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the collections process, leadership for the team, providing strategic finance direction, process simplification, and operational decision-making.This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine!

Your Role:

  • Provide leadership and direction for all activities within accounts receivable processing, administration, and personnel, including but not limited to collections and cash applications activities. Provide leadership regarding the standardization of customer payment processes. Mentor and motivate a team of collections professionals, providing guidance, training, development and support to drive performance and achieve departmental goals.

  • Identify optimization opportunities in billing/invoicing, cash applications and collections processes and engage stakeholders across the business to drive improvements while maximizing efficiencies.

  • Develop and implement effective and efficient collection strategies, processes and workflows to support overall financial goals. Develop and drive best practices in operations and processes ensuring consistency with company requirements, internal and external controls and audit requirements.

  • Continually review customer payment patterns to ensure that account balances are current and payment trends are in line with company standards.

  • Develop management reporting for daily, weekly, monthly tracking of accounts receivable performance.

  • Provide forecasting for collections as an input for cash flow, providing guidance to the team for goal attainment, and feedback to management relating to accounts receivable status.

  • Lead the hiring process for new positions to ensure that we hire the right candidates with the appropriate skills and experience.

  • Plan, organize, lead and control the activities of the group, including projects, schedules, priorities, and personnel. This includes operational and strategic efforts aimed to drive business process improvement including cost management opportunities.

  • Serve as a consultant and subject matter expert to external clients regarding business policies, processes, procedures, and measures that drive the realization of business strategies (e.g., accounts receivable management).

  • Foster an environment of operational excellence and promote/implement continuous improvement practices.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior finance and business leaders within the organization.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field, required. Masters preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in credit and collections.

  • Minimum 7 years managerial experience.

  • Proven track record of success in building, leading, and developing high-performing collections teams.

  • Ability to hold the business accountable to the adherence of business policy, contractual requirements, and standard accounting procedures.

  • Experience in establishing and achieving specific targeted goals related to DSO, aging and bad debt.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.

  • Experience working with large data sets and providing robust analytics and insights to business leaders.

  • Experience using Excel, Salesforce and Netsuite required.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
