Jacobs Protection and Control Engineer Lead (m/w/d) in WURZBURG, Germany

Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for a Protection and Control Engineer Lead (m/w/d) to help position Jacobs for success.

Our Power and Energy team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, and wind farms.

You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:

  • Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for TSOs (50Hertz, Amprion, Tennet, TransnetBW)

  • Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for the Protection & Control up to 380kV

  • Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work

  • Experience designing the HV infrastructure across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design

  • Undertake site visits / non-intrusive surveys as required as part of the design activities or as part of site support

  • Ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project

  • Identification, assessment, and adoption of the best technical solution.

  • Risk and CDM management

  • Attending and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required

  • Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience

  • State-Certified Engineer or Chartered Engineer through the IET or equivalent

  • Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (150kV AC & DC upwards) substation/converter projects

  • Minimum 12 years of experience working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation

  • P&C Design Experience in the following areas will be considered advantageous:

  • TSO & DNO

  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

  • Windfarms and HVDC

  • Extensive experience in P&C FEED or detailed design of high voltage installations (150kV to 380kV)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers

  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required

  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects

  • Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills
